NICL – Network of IDeA Funded Core Laboratories

The mission of this network is to support, encourage, and facilitate resource sharing and collaboration among NCRR-funded cores and shared-resource facilities. The web site,, will serve as a portal for exchange of ideas between COBRE, INBRE, RCMI and CTSA cores.

Biomedical and Obesity Research Core – Tool Development Program

The Nebraska Center for the Prevention of Obesity Diseases (NPOD) at the University of Nebraska – Lincoln was created in August of 2014 through funding by NIH’s COBRE program (P20GM104320). NPOD supports Biomedical and Obesity Research Core (ORC) facilities that offer a comprehensive array of tool development and research services.

We invite investigators from IDeA states to participate in the BORC’s Tool Development program. The program supports the development of novel research tools and protocols in our facilities. Please contact us to inquire about the possibility of the BORC developing tools for your research.

The Biomedical and Obesity Research Core’s expertise is in the following areas, but your inquiries are not limited to services in these areas:

  • Mouse phenotyping and live imaging
  • Molecular biology
  • Metabolism
  • Bioinformatics, biostatistics, and experimental design
  • High-speed, large capacity computation
